This is an oil painting I just finished. It’s 24 by 36 inches. The subject matter is taken from a photo of a boy who gave me permission to paint it (the boy in the photo). I do a lot of landscapes, but now I am trying to incorporate some of my discipline life into my artwork. Hopefully most of you like it 🙂

Guys, guys…there’s a male ballet company that only features male ballet dancers – on pointe in pink ballet shoes.…I think my life might have found meaning. Heavens to betsy. *fans self*

This might look like a pretty normal shot to any passerby but take a look at the man’s left foot. In order to get your toes to touch the ground solidly like that requires a lot of specific foot stretching to create that arch. Try to obtain this pose, you won’t be able to do so. Once the body of a dancer, always the body of a dancer.
Look at this tyke. So focused, so driven. He’s probably the only black kid there and probably keeps this a secret from friends so he doesn’t get teased, yet he keeps coming to practice week after week. This might just be the beginning of a career for him. Dance on, little man!
